Grace Park @ One Rockwell They say that when a restaurant says that it's on still on Soft Opening, customers are expected to forgive whatever boo-boo the kitchen and service people may commit. I say... bullshit. I say, if you're just going to fuck up my food and to be served by clumsy servers, well then, don't open just yet! Simple. Grace Park opened to the public a few days back. We were expecting something grand from the owner and Chef of Cibo and Lusso (that night, Chef Margarita arrived way before our orders did. While apologizing for the "mess," she kissed and hugged her very good friend, Tita Nelia Silverio Dee who was with Mark Dee and me). That night, the expected grandness was never to be found. Service was clumsy and amateur and the food can be described as bad and very bad.
Their burger went over the top. There was too much cheese splattered on bad beef. Sa hitsura at lasa, umay na umay ka na. Grace Park calls this OMGBurger which is priced at (unbelievably) P795. Oh my God, alright.
It was unanimous: this was blandest pasta we've eaten ever. They claim that they use fresh pasta, that's great. If only they put in some flavor... This Squash Ribbons, Pistachios, Goat Cheese was highway robbery at P450.
What can go wrong with meatballs? Well, this 3-Meatballs (P495) was all-wrong. We didn't like the texture and the beef left a funny taste on our tongues.
That dinner was not a total disaster. Personally, I liked this Organic Field Greens (P220). The Honey-Dijon Dressing was light and just right.
The Baked Crackling 2-Ways (P200) is a unique way of serving of chicharon (baked chicharon with cream cheese). We liked this appetizer.
Hamburgoonever left the menu. What I meant was, we saw the decline of Burgoo foodincluding one of it's bestsellers, the famous Hamburgoo. So we stopped going there and were half expecting for the brand to just quietly fade away.Sayang. To think that it's one of the very first good International Food Franchises that came out with humongous servings (drowning in french fries and dripping with oil) in the tradition of Friday's, Chili's, CPK, among others.
When the Rockwell branch finally re-opened last year after months of renovation, we tried it out immediately. And we were not disappointed.
And thank you, Burgoo, for the dessert! We loved it! We'll definitely be coming back!
