Breakfast at Hatch 22!

Hatch 22 Bakery and Cafe
Power Plant, Makati City

NYOB - Not Your Ordinary Benedict (P540)
"Fresh baked rustic muffins, wild mushrooms, sous vide eggs,
Italian ham, sautéed spinach and torched citrus hollandaise"

We (Tita Nelia and I) were craving for a good pancake breakfast that morning. Sadly, the Pancake House in Rockwell was full so we just for Hatch 22 which was a few steps away. Tita was a bit reluctant having eaten there and found that the food was, well, not good. We took a table, nonetheless. Why? One, walang tao. Second, malakas ang aircon.

I ordered for NYOB - Not Your Ordinary Benedict. We both loved it and the presentation earned high marks from us. We couldn't say the same for their Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes. Good thing that we enjoyed the NYOB enough that we didn't anymore consider returning it to the kitchen.

Blueberry Ricotta Pancake (P325)
"Buttermilk pancakes filled with blueberry compote,
ricotta and toasted almonds.
Served with cinnamon butter and cognac maple syrup"

Eggs Benedict @ Maple!

Maple
San Antonio Plaza,
Forbes Park, Makati

Eggs Benedict (P315)
"Their signature topped with Canadian bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce served with crunch country fries"

It was a beautiful Sunday morning and we wanted a really heavy breakfast. Our favorite breakfast, Alexa along dela Costa was under renovation and Wildflour was, as usual, packed. When we suddenly remembered the Prime Rib Tapa of Maple in San Antonio.

They didn't have the Tapa that morning so we just settled for Eggs Benedict and their Maple Omelette. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Maple Omelette (P295)
"Omelette with button mushrooms, onions, red and green bell peppers, ham, bacon and cheddar cheese, served with country fries"

Breakfast at Brasserie Boheme Gone Bad!

Brasserie Boheme @ Salcedo Village

Tita Nelia (Let's Cook My Way)  and I have a short list of places where we love eating breakfast at... Bizu, Pancake House, Alexa's Deli, and yes, Brasserie Boheme. Well, after what happened a few week ago, we have scratched Brasserie Boheme off that list.

If you're planning to eat there, forget about their Eggs Benedict (which we used to love!). We didn't like what they served us that we ask them to take it back to the kitchen and then, refused to pay for it. Tita Nelia also disliked the Pancake she ordered that the she ended eating for breakfast a slice of American Pie with cream.  I had Vigan Longganisa with over-hard eggs. Did I like it? Honestly? I don't remember.

Two Breakfasts: Boheme & The Lobby!

Two mornings. Both memorable.

BRASSERIE BOHEME @ The Picasso Residences. It was a rainy (deliciously gloomy!) Sunday morning. I ordered for (steaming) hot chocolate and the perfect Eggs Benedict and Tita (Nelia Silverio)ordered for corned beef with eggs. I should say it was a very good morning… if only we could have mornings like this everyday...

The Eggs Benedict was perfect
from the presentation to the taste!
Poached eggs, bread (am not sure if they used muffin,)
ham with Hollandaise!

If it's raining, a toddy of Hot Chocolate
is a lot better than coffee. How about a marshmallow?

Tita ordered this. I ended up finishing it.
She didn't like it. I didn't also.
It's just I have this weird thing that
I can't leave anything on my plate...
Even food this bad.

We didn't allow the Corned Beef to ruin our day.
That morning was too good.
One more thing, we love eating here.
Forgiven.

The Lobby @ the Pen. The other memorable breakfast was when a best friend visited from the US whom I haven't seen for a long time. That breakfast gave me a few hours to be with him alone. We talked about the pigging out in different restaurants (Cafe Elysee, The Plaza, Manila Pen, Anghang, Aling Asyang, etc etc etc!) more than 30 years ago! :)

Dee is a typical balikbayan.
He ordered for boneless bangus with garlic rice.

I ordered for waffle and hot chocolate.

Together with another good friend, Dr. Bombet, we proceeded to Sonya's in Tagaytay after breakfast. I love these guys. See you in May, Dee!
