Halo-Halo

I needed to have my last fix of Halo-Halo (topped with, not Ube Ice Cream but creamy Leche Flan!) before summer ends. And why not? I threw in an order of Pandan Jellied Tapioca with coco milk, topped with crunchy toasted pinipig! Now, this is life.

Super Halo-Halo in Ilo-Ilo City!

I had the most generous, hilarious and the "most efficient tour guide" when I visited Ilo-Ilo City. And yes, Donnie Ledesma, (a schoolmate from Ateneo) took me to places a foodie would kill for.  

After an extremely interesting lunch of fresh oysters and other catch from the sea (details coming soon!) Donnie took me to a palengke where the best Halo-Halo is located.  Sadly, it was closed when we got there. So, we went to the "next best Halo-Halo in the city." 

They say for Halo-Halo to be good, it must have a good combination of ingredients. I agree. Nida's Halo-Halo is not only good but the best I've ever had. I kid you not. I enjoyed the red and green sago, corn, halaya, leche flan, corn flakes, fresh Mango and Avocado cubes. I personally think na ang Avocado ang nagdala ng Super Halo-Halo ni Nida. 

And the price of one Super bowl? P30!

I never fail to order Shooters (P85) everytime we eat here at Via Mare. It’s one order in the menu that doesn’t stress me. Meaning, I don’t have to choose (believe me, it's stressful for me!). I get to enjoy three menu items namely, Halo-Halo, Mais Con Hielo, Guinomis in cute Highball glasses without getting too full for Bibingka, Palitaw, Puto Bumbong, Pancit Luglog!

Via Mare (Comfort Food) Classics!

I grew up with Via Mare.  We find ourselves eating here every time we crave for meryenda staples like Halo-halo, Puto Bumbong, Bibingka, Ginatan.  And of course, there’s the comfort food classics: Arroz ala Cubana and yes, Sun-Dried Crispy Tapa!

And lately, I have this special liking for Shooters! Don’t ask me why. I just love them.
