San Jose: Halaya, Macapuno & Kamote Halo-Halo!

Nice & Spice
San Jose, Mindoro

Special Halo-Halo (P75)

I love Halo-Halo. Actually, syempre depende sa ingredients na hinalo. I will never forget the palengke Halo-Halo in Ilo-Ilo (and to think that it was only the 2nd best)! That Halo-Halo is to die for. Anyway, like Fried Chicken, there's (almost always!) Halo-Halo in every restaurant in the Philippines. Hindi naman palagi, pero madalas.

Friends in San Jose, Mindoro told us of the Special Halo-Halo in Nice & Spice, near the palengke. Masarap daw. So, sakay ng aming "service tricycle" (which we hired for the whole day for P500) we looked for it.

Well, the Halo-Halo looked inviting though I wanted it to have more color, I wanted it more "festive." Just the same, Halo-Halo is Halo-Halo! Masayang kainin lalo pag Summer!

'Famous' San Jose LOMI!

Circle Food Center
San Jose, Mindoro

 Special Lomi (P100)

They say... kapag gusto mo ng masarap at murang pagkain, pumunta ka kunsaan maraming taxi. That's true in Manila. In San Jose, Mindoro, go where tricycle drivers go. In our case, after giving us a thumbs down review of a certain popular Mami House, our driver took us to this relatively small eatery called Circle Food Center.

Why Circle Food Center, you ask? Kasi, nasa Rotonda siya! Strategically located, you won't miss it. Anyway, the place was packed (meryenda time), service was oh-so-bad and there were a couple of (unwanted) friends merrily flying about (to swat or not to swat). Never mind all of that.

Because they make good Lomi. Good Lomi served in a big bowl for a hundred bucks! I don't want to find out what they put in there but whatever it is, masarap siya. I swear.
