The Horse That Flies Up, Up & Away!

I chanced upon the alleged “Gandang Gabi, Vice” farewell episode (alleged dahil before the show ended, may alleged  announcement from the ABS-CBS management na ibabalik na ang show the following Sunday) last week.

Since I repeatedly tell myself na hindi exclusively food blog ang FRIED CHICKEN., I considered writing about Petrang Kabayo. Why not?

Many moons back, our college group had an Italian restaurant in Pasong Tamo, Makati.  On its 3rd Anniversary, we had a really bonggang party to coincide with the restaurant’s new look.

I got Philip Lazaro (a friend from way back) who was one of the hottest stars in comedy bars then. On the day of his ocular, he came with a thin, sickly-looking and very tall mujerista. Wala siyang kibo, parang suplada. Didn’t utter a single word except his name when asked.

After the meeting, binitbit niya ang make-up kit nila at siya rin ang nagpara ng taxi sa harap ng hotel (our cafe was at the ground floor of Herald Suites).

The show in the Art CafĂ© was a howling success. Everyone loved Philip. And for the sickly-looking mujerista?  Never saw him again.

And now, dalawa na ang show ni Private Kabayo at dalawa na ang box office hits.  Who’s to argue with success?

Sabi nga ng isang nangangasim na friend ko from Arneo, “okay lang… he still can’t deliver a grammatically-correct sentence in English.”

I chose to keep silent.

  1. I like Vice Ganda. :) I watched Private Benjamin with my family. Laughter is the best medicine and Vice is one of the best "doctors". :)

  2. Personally, I don't like his humor. Comment ends here.
