Alex III: Fish & Chips!

Alex III Restaurant, Tomas Morato

Its been years since the I last ordered Fish and Chips at this branch. I used to go out of my way to just eat it here. I remember that together with my order I also asked for another lemon wedge, Knorr Seasoning (never Maggi) and Garlic Rice. You ask, is the Fish & Chips then, any different with the one being served now?

Well, they had thinner fish slices with crispier breading then and I don't remember being served tomato catsup just tartar sauce (which was deliciously tart!). So, which is better? I liked both for different reasons. And I would still go out of my way to have it again, and again...

Ryzza Mae: Aleng Maliit and the Scary Rocking Chair!

There's no problem with the rocking chair, garantisado yan. Hwag lang sosobra ng konti ang pag-rock at matatakot na ang "matapang" na Aleng Maliit. Really funny! The rocking chair is a prop Ryzza Mae uses for a segment at laging siyang niloloko ng EB staff everytime na naka-upo siya dito na naka-relax mode!

"The Coolest Way To Enjoy Coffee!"

Shakey's @ Eton Centris, QC

It's my second time to be visiting this particular branch of Shakey's and like the first one, I used the Gift Certificate they gave me.

I ordered my all-time favorite pizza: Manager's Choice. I remembered telling Mr. Koi Castillo (Shakey's Brand Manager) during the Bloggers' Event how I grew up with Shakey's (like all Ateneans my age!), Katipunan branch. It was the only restaurant along that strip that gave free birthday blow-out when you're a club member. And our favorite? Manager's Choice!

Anyway, going back, the staff of Eton Walk branch is one of the most accommodating with special mention, Gerby Manzano (Party Coordinator), Michael Maranan (Captain Waiter) and Sheila Espiritu (Manager). They're genuinely friendly and attentive to the needs of the guests.

Ms. Sheila even gave my friend and I, Iced Cafe Latte and Iced Cafe Mocha (on the house! Thank you!) when I recounted to her my disappointment the first time I had those coffee preparations in another branch.

This Eton Walk branch version of their Latte and Mocha was much, much better. Both had this very slight coffee bitter after-taste na talaga namang  kapeng-kape!.  In short, they're how a Cold Latte and Mocha should be. By the way, it's affordable at only P85!

Again, thank you, Ms. Sheila Espiritu! She proved that Shakey's cool coffee preparations are really the "Coolest Way to Enjoy Coffee!"

Paging Mr. Kois Castillo! Your Eton Walk branch deserves commendation!

Alex III: Kilawin Tokwa't Baboy!

Alex III, Tomas Morato

There are many ways to enjoy Tokwa't Baboy: as appetizer, ulam, meryenda, pulutan or as partner with Goto/Lugaw. I like it any which way. Alex III's Tokwa't Baboy has that distinct sour taste that whets your appetite for the next round of food (in our case, Bistik Tagalog!)

Alex III: LECHE FLAN!

Alex III Restaurant
Tomas Morato

I'm used to eating Lechen Flan straight from a lanera. My mom, being a Bulakenya, would go home to our house in Quezon City (at least, once a week!) heavy with pasalubongs from good-hearted relatives: bottles of sweetened Garbanzos and Red Beans and countless laneras of Halaya and yes, Leche Flan. I would get a spoonful of Halaya and Leche Flan from each lanera knowing na iba-iba ang nagbigay nun at iba-iba ang gumawa. By the time I'm done with my "taste test," busog na ako.

Alex III's Leche Flan is good Leche Flan (with or without the white thing on top). You won't be sharing it with anyone, I swear.

Ryzza Mae, STANDBY, STANDBY!

I still can't get used to the popularity of Aleng Maliit! Talagang sikat na sikat na siya! People just love her! Bakit? Standby na pala! Sobrang nakakatuwa sila!

Ryzza Mae at ang EB Babes!

She's one of the prettiest members of the EB Babes and one of the nicest. Sobra siyang manggigil sa bunso ng Dabarkads! At okay lang naman kay Ryzza Mae who is forever game naman sa mga gustong siyang panggigilan.

Alex III: Bistek Tagalog!

Alex III Restaurant, Tomas Morato QC

When I saw the Bistek Tagalog, I was reminded of my Lola Maria (a true-blue Bulakenya) who was such an O.C. in the kitchen. Example: She refused to use kalamansi when cooking Bistek. She would demand for "dayap", nothing but. And she would fry bulbs and bulbs of white onions which she would carefully put on top of the dish just before setting it on the table. And the taste? It was excellent. Just like how Alex III makes it.  Beef's tender and the sauce has that slight tart taste. Dayap na dayap. And that for me is perfect Bistek.

Usapang Fried Chicken #26: ADOBO CONNECTION!

Adobo Connection, Robinsons Magnolia

I was having my usual craving for fried chicken as I scouted around Robinson Magnolia Food Court. Savory, Bon Chon and Chicken Joy were not... well, didn't seem to excite me that day. I wanted something I haven't tried before. Then, I saw Adobo Connection. Immediately, I asked if they serve fried chicken. They do. Fried Adobo Mix (P109). And I had fun eating it.

It was Adobo I want. It had lots of garlic though I wanted them crunchier but, no big deal there. The meat was tender and malasa. I was kinda expecting their Adobo to be on the salty side pero hindi naman. Hindi hilaw ang lasa, walang daya. And to complete the Adobo experience, I had the Adobo Rice with Garlic Flakes! How was it? I was able to finish one serving of the Adobo Rice. Bad.

These are the things you don't eat every day. It's just not right.

Ryzza Mae, Obsessed sa Camera! (Part 1)

She is really "addicted" to different gadgets! Mahilig talaga siya... from cell phones, video games, laptops, tablets and yes, cameras! Actually, normal lang naman yun mga bata nowadays. Tulad nung isang araw, napansin niya ang HD digicam na ginagmit ko. She started playing with it! What happened was Ryzza Mae took videos of everything in the dressing room habang nakatutok naman ang IPhone ko sa kanya! At kung anu-ano ang pina-gagawa niya! Medyo magulo ang mga kuha niya at medyo nakakahilo din. Pero, nakakatuwa naman! The truth is, most of her selfie shots ay talagang nakaka-aliw! At meron pang Part 2 yan, watch out for it.
